12.21.08 First Baptist Church of McDowell- This was alot of fun. Pastor Gene out there is a wonderful individual and alot of Kayla's family was there. The song I played for service was well recieved but I believe during our evening set we became too loud. I'm really hungry, though.

12.16.08 Baldwinsville Chiropractic
- Well, this was fun. I played a lot of songs and Kayla refused to sing with me. My personal favorite part of this event was when I sang "Folsom Prison Blues," this old Johnny Cash song. I was singing the line, "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die" and sure as I am typing this now, Santa Clause walked in and made me feel terribly awkward. you can't sing a song like that in front of santa. My second favorite was when Santa questioned alloud during a discussion whether or not I "swing that way" due to some pink fingernail polish I wore on my middle finger. Incredible.

11.29.08 College Street Cafe- This show was alot of fun. The Torpedo And The Whale was there, whom if you haven't heard you should go right now (www.myspace.com/thetorpedoandthewhale) as did Love Knot and the incredible Kevin Thompson. Too much talent for one cafe, to be certain. I almost forgot, Jim from Stranger Than Fate along with his little girlfriend came as well. There were no cables or speakers here, only a bunch of people sitting around a small hippy-esque coffee shop while I told stories and played some songs. I hope other people had as much fun as I did. There were some random songs I don't usually play and some impressions of mexicans who don't actually own a pizza joint, apparently. I spoke with Kevin Thompson afterwards for a long time about music and God's people and how it all correlates and I became a little bit smarter and alot more encouraged. I've been feeling increasingly that the church needs my concentration more than the bars right now and he kind of confirmed that in me. What a blessing he was. Then, KABAM, I start talking to Richard (AKA The Torpedo) and he introduced me to some things I didn't formerly know about. Seems like a really great guy. What a great God He is to supply such re-assurance in this time of growth. Good show.

11.15.08 Northside Coffeehouse- Every time these coffeehouses seem like more fun. Other than the fact that they continuously ignore my pleas for a "potluck" coffeehouse- which i have forgiven- it's really been one of my peaks this month. The set flowed well, give or take. There was a point in which I played Turncoat and then went into Heather Heartache which was a little disproportioned, seeing as they're both very depressing songs. So, I sang "Hero" by Enrique Iglesia to Mark Manansala. Half of one solitary tear fell from each of our respective eyes to form one perfect, harmonious moment of undefiled love. I almost peed my pants. We even sold a few discs at this show, which was great because we got french fries on our way to the show that followed this show. Oh yeah, so there's a bunch of people here I want to hang out with and see perform but No, I found out I was on the schedule to play at my church. So, after my set I get all the crap except the merch (cause i was holding out hope we'd sell a bunch more junk) and im loafing around talking to my friends for the little time ive got, listening to Matt Cathcart (incredible guy, seriously. voice like an angel, fingers like an unwed french pigeon, it's a scene.) then Adam Krahl and i think someone else mightve been playing. Maybe Jeremy. Idk. anyway, so I had to bolt out of there only to get to my church and find out that the kids were doing their guitar hero thing then pretty much taking off. it was nice because i really liked not playing, then sleeping. it was lame because, i kind of wish idve just hung out at northside all night. Whatever. We're having a big thanksgiving meal at church sunday so that'll make up for it.

11.14.08 Shamballa Cafe- I could never possibly complain about Shamballa Cafe. The show featured Heroes Of The Underground, White Picket Fence, and Zach "Lee" Brown's band Halfe Caste. Zach hosted the event, adjusting the microphone to perfect heights and other actions such as this that demonstrated control. Baha. All great kids, was fun to be there and to see White Picket Fence again. The full band added an entire new dimension to their music that I was certainly a fan of. I had to bail early for an engagement over at the church unfortunately and had to miss most of WPF's set as well as Halfe Caste. I guess we'll just have to attend some more shows. My favorite part of my set was when I performed "Save It For The Radio" and followed it with a screamo-esque breadown that SEG-WAYed into everyone singing the ABC's. Yes, SRSLY. It was bad A.

11.07.08 The Tramontane- This show was a really great time. I arrived at the scene some two hours early in the hopes that I might find my friend Todd Lamondie loafing around the cafe. Unfortunately, he was not there but Kayla, Sarah, and I decided to snag some food. It was alarming. I will state that the food was very good, but a shock to our system as Kayla and I are the types of vegetarians who buy food that doesn't taste like its vegetarian. I want my veggie burgers to taste like cow. Because the truth is that I like the taste of cow, just not the torturing and other such things. Nevertheless, it was really good food. Specifically the grilled cheese which featured a surprise tomato. Really fun set. People seemed to be there and appreciate the music. I played a good 2 hours and probably one of the coolest moments was a song I sang for Todd, of which I can remember no lyrics. Except something about us "getting married" because were both "really hairy." It was recieved in good fun. Thankfully. Good food, good people.

10.25.08 Cole Treasure Benefit II- This was quite the treat. Last minute, Stranger Than Fate's bass player Tim Harriman mentioned that he had a Tigger costume in his car. Naturally, I kidnapped it. I had my wireless guitar system set up for Sunday's worship service so I started in the back room strumming (unfortunately during a prayer) then gradually came onto the stage dressed as tigger. Performed a stunning heavy metal breakdown on acoustic guitar and danced beside of my dad's friend Tim Buycke. And some other people too. Mid-set I stripped from the Tigger outfit and explained that sometimes we thing we have to wear silly costumes so that God will think better of us, but in the end they are only silly costumes. When it all comes down to it, we must take off that silly costume and show God who we really are. I then talked about facing the pressures of societies and other stuff that probably went in one ear then out the other. Teenagers. They were good kids, though. Terrible clappers. but good kids.

10.18.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- What an incredible set. I'd been praying alot before hand, as this was my first set back in this bar since my weekly gigs with the acoustic duo "The As-if's" and I was concerned that I might fall back into my fart joke, vulgar humor scene that steals so much from my message. BUT, alas, it went really well. I played an entire hour of mostly original music and people seemed very entertained and interested. Everyone sang along with The Animal Song (sadly...) and Garrett (my heterosexual lifepartner) even came up and sang a couple tunes with me, which was alot of fun. Also sold like 3 or 4 albums this night. Wow! Also, opened for 3 Inch Fury (who are good friends of the 4:37.) They played a pretty impressive show, what with making the people move and all. DR is a frontman- born and raised. A solid 80's metal tribute band for certain. And they're not even paying me to write this (yet)! Fun show to celebrate GK's BDAY.

10.09.08 The Pourhouse- Man, oh man. The Pourhouse was a blast. Kayla and I left for Trumansburg early in the day so that we could fully experience the sights and have plenty of time to walk around and try and recruit people to come visit us during the set. Kayla and I sang a good deal of songs this night, which was really something beautiful. So, we're driving along on our way out to Trumansburg and we pass this little gas station. KABLAM- a frickin monk. So, I says to Kayla, "Holy crap, did you see that monk?" And she's like, "No, are you serious?" and I'm like, "Yeah, it was like something out of Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas." So she suggests we turn around and talk with him and maybe he lets us take her pictures. So, we awkwardly park at this little autoshop (as it turns out to not be a gas station). He's inside now. We walk in this place real cool-like, you know- like we belong. As we weasel our way around him in this 6 by 6 foot room i realise there is no smooth way to handle this. So, I reach out and grab two of the chocolate bars (the only things in the room that aren't oil or transmission fluid) and get in line behind a gentleman whose come in through the garage. Finally, Kayla breaks and she goes, "Are you a monk?!" and he kinda laughs and responds, "I'm a FRIAR!" So we laugh and he's cool and we ask what he does and crap and if he listens to radio then we give him a CD, which he sticks in his chest flap in his like friar robe thing. AND, i can't forget to mention, he's friend with the guy who owns The Rongovian Embassy. He's like, "Why aren't you playing at the rongo?" and i wanted to eat there instantly. Move foward. So, we pull into T-burg and we doodle up some fliers to put on storefronts up and down the street (which may or may not have influenced the audience we had.) We distributed the fliers with the help of the kind lady inside the pourhouse, then kayla ran into a pole, then we had some hushpuppies (INCREDIBLE HUSHPUPPIES) and some rootbeers (saranac). We played some songs, urbody seemed pretty into it. They turned me down. I felt really sad. But, then I found out that I was only loud, not bad! yay! Baha. favorite part. So, at the end I yell at the guy from the back "hey, are you the guy that made me the hushpuppies?!" and he like throws his hands up and storms into the kitchen. So i play my last song and walk up to the guy behind the counter and ask again. He says, "Dude, they're at the bar, okay." So i say, "No... where's the dude that made me the hush puppies?" and he starts laughing. They all thought I was demanding some G-D hushpuppies. and I ate them anyway. Long drive home, great loot.

10.05.08 Syracuse University- What can be said of the Syracuse University show? it was incredible. I played Telephone Wire and Eleanor Rigby after Kayla and I sang "Kayla's Song" together. Big beautiful chapel. I don't think we sold any merch or made any money, but we did open for Lost & Found who is REALLY GOOD. I'm not sure if you've heard of them, but they're worth your time and effort. Really nice guys, and one of 'em is a vegan =]. The lady that put the show on was really nice. Actually, I'm lying. She bought a CD, which was very kind of her.

9.20.08 The Varick- BOOOOOOOOO

9.19.08. 257 Steakhouse- Boring set. BUT when we walked in, The Rusty Doves were playing. Really good music, friends. really good. The crowd was not at all interested in music save one couple who bought a couple albums and I gived 'em a free tshirt. they were really into the music (sometimes, atleast. i saw a couple of cringe faces). I "opened" for Rob Geurin, an incredibly talented acoustic rhythm guitar player who reminded me how terrible I am (in comparison to him.) afterwards, my dad and I took off for to see Angels Wake perform. YES YES YES! Highlight of that night one hundred percent. They played a killer set in the middle of nowhere.

9.18.08 Nail Creek- This was the first of 3 shows in Utica at the UMF 2008. Spent all day with Kris Mayes and his beautiful family. Scoping out the sights of Utica and walking around hanging up some Stranger Than Fate fliers. I started early this night. The set was Loud. It was very loud and energetic. I don't think I stopped moving or yelling for the entire length of the set. The sound guy hear was the upright bass player in the incredible duo The Rusty Doves. Also worth your time. They said they wanted to rebook me but have yet to answer my calls so they've been added to my "blow off if you make it big" list.

9.07.08 United Methodist Youth- I don't know who invited me or why. These kids didn't seem particularly interested in music and I don't think the youth pastor even knew I was going to be there. Worship went over well, they got into a good little worship set and seemed to know all the words pretty good. Also, there was ice cream involved. I'm pretty sure, however, that I won't be invited back.

9.06.08 Foursquare Gospel- What an AWESOME SHOW! I opened for Stranger Than Fate at a block party out in Utica. There were hotdogs, so Kayla and I had potato chips. I opened with the song four thirty seven and then things exploded into a magical journey. The children danced like crazy and kept asking me to take pictures while I was trying to get a good picture of Jim (percussion STF). a hard thing to do BTW. So, Stranger Than Fate played a killer set and I kind of loafed around and talked to people. But, then, this like all black gospel group got up and they were frickin insane. INCREDIBLE MUSIC. Man, I was grooving like nobodies business. This drummer knew exactly what to put behind the 3 gospel singing ladies, and the other instrumentals. It was really moving. Then, one of the women who had the gift of prophecy stopped and told me to keep playing because my music would break down walls. I hope she was right, because we sure have an aweful lot of walls.

8.23.08 Clinton A&M Fest- Holy tomato pie, batman. What a delicious event this was. The family and I met up with Stranger Than Fate (just in time for dad to help carry stuff and for me to come up with something i HAD to do very fast). We all got food and kind of wandered the festival, seeing Boom Box Repair Kit and some other really impressive artists. The PA system was a little dinky and unfortunately I had tested my vocal limits the night before at Montage in Rochester, so I leaned heavily on my sense of humor to hold peoples interests. It worked, but I said some things that made Kris cringe. It was pretty funny.

8.22.08 Montage Music Hall- Orchard Drive is a killer band. There is no doubt about that, and their frontman Nate Cronk is a really nice guy. I will say that opening for the bands at this event was quite a treat. There was this bassist from a punk band there who was all about "Save It For The Radio," which I unfortunately still have yet to record. Kayla and I sang "Kayla's Song" together, and then I played some louder songs, then some softer songs, then I walked off the stage. Five Hundred Fires played a really great set and Violet Mary was pretty entertaining as well. Orchard Drive was outstanding, even though we all had to bail early to wake up the next day. Thanks for the fun, Rochester.

8.16.08 Coffeehouse @ Northside- Hello Matthew Cathcart, I love you. He's pretty incredible. My friend Jeremie was also here, playing incredible songs and being awesome. I can't remember who else was here, but I know it was fun up to the point where I put a chocolate covered coffee bean in my mouth. Everything afterwords is a blur.

8.09.08 Keuka College- Holy college, batman. This show was a blast- despite the fact that it semi lead to the quitting of my job. I played a light set, as I was warned that the older gentleman pastors might not be inspired by THRASHCORE, which was what I had orginally intended to perform that night. It was really great. My family and I met a guy named Barry who lives right down the road from our house and who dad STILL HASN'T CALLED BACK. Way to be, Dad. Making friends, are you? So, anyway, I played some songs and gave a message about music and how all music is inspired by God because all genres are inspired by a genre before them and God wrote the first songs. Yeah? In any respect, it went really well and people were extremely responsive. We talked to a gentleman named Lloyd Young for a long time and he told us alot of really great stories. I began to realise that youth don't have a clue how to communicate with their elders or with adults at all. How will they learn?

8.02.08 Cabin 3 Music Fest- Wow. I sent out some 350 emails to different local churches, imploring them to partner with me in ministry and allow me to visit their congregations and perform songs featuring testimonies of my trial and error. But the only response came from Erik from God's Vision Church in Hannibal, NY. What a blessing that is, as it has lead me to take the Worship Leader position there and become an active part of this body of believers. The show went really great, as I recall. Stranger Than Fate played as did a band called Seven Thunders who was also very good. This was a fun time that featured free pizza, as I recall.

7.27.08 Harborfest- Played with Among The Thirsty. It was fun, I suppose. Some people were really into the music and the message behind it. I rocked the mic like a bandit and performed a "thru the ages" set, starting with early 4:37 material and ending with newer things. Noone knew the difference. Furthermore, they appreciated most my 80's medley that I compiled for a Mac's set one night. There was a "big promoter" guy there. Four months later and I still haven't heard from him. Or Among The Thirsty. I don't understand sometimes why people act like they want to have relationships with you and then refuse to write back or anything. I probably shouldn't take it personally, as people get busy. I get busy, too, and there are probably people I forget to write back too. They did play a good set either way, extremely talented guys. Good loot. Lots of merch sales. Azteca's, however, was closed and my friend Aaron and I were terribly dissapointed. Was a fun day, though, either way.

7.25.08 Coffee Connection- Hissssss. I mean, beautiful little place- it really is. But it's hard to draw a crowd here. There was a handful of people that showed up at the end and seemed interested until I put them down. There was also a lady from New Zealand there and she paid us for a disc in Canadian money, which im trying to exchange if you're interested. The music over at Club Crystals was really pumping and it sucked, honestly. Couldn't hear anything I was doing real well. I think most of it came across as annoying.

7.20.08 Benefit @ Damon's- Candy?

7.19.08 Shawna's Grad Party- Holy C&G's daughter, batman.

7.12.08 Earlville- Other than the little boy who was also named Adam that sang with me, the most important thing to mention about Earlville is the little girl who said to me after recieving a CD and a Button, "This is the best day of my life ever!" It was adorable. The people were great in Earlville, just a small town that reminded me alot of home. It was a ways out but the mountains were beautiful and the folks didn't know what to make of a vegenite =] thanks for such fun, Earlville.

6.28.08 The Rongovian Embassy- So, the crew goes like this. My dad, me, Kayla, my friend Keggs, and my friend Casey are all driving out in the van towards Trumansburg. We're trucking along and KABLAM a frickin' crow smacks into the windshield. We're weaving between amish people and a crow smacks the windshield. Yeah, i was ready to turn around. But, we kept trucking along and made it to "The Rongo." Wow, what a cool place. Delicious mexican food. As we load in, there's this bearded fellow holding a guitar so we started cracking jokes (specifically about a gas station we passed that had a sign out front which read, "We now have salads"- oh the technological age of trumansburg). he's Todd Lamondie! that didn't mean anything to me at the time, but when I heard him sing... my heart melted into a sugary molasses and i had to ask kayla to mop it up. we rock paper scissored to see who would open and i lost. the set was okay, kind of lighthearted and leaning towards the humor and away from the message. Eric Morelli and the other guys seemed real friendly but none of them save Derek have responded to any messages or anything. I wonder if there's something about me that turns people off. I don't want anything from people, only friendship and respect and a free meal every now and again. Anyway, Kayla and I sang together again. It's getting to be kind of a thing.

6.14.08 St. Augustines- I played some songs with Aaron Buitron. Also, I played Mr. Wiggles and some other stuff that people didn't seem that into. I was the opening act and most people weren't even seated by the time I was done playing, unfortunately. Sometimes things go that way. But I was dressed to kill in a white shirt (featuring collar) and a black tie.

6.13.08 The Redhouse- What a beautiful venue. This was recorded and I made a few hardcopies to sell because it was such incredible sound this night. I opened for Charley Orlando and Tim Herron, both incredible songwriters and really nice guys. Charley is one of those characters that i will always love and respect highly. He's been so supportive and kind to me in my short musical career. I played all original music in rebellion from my weekly Mac's gig- SAVE a NWA cover I did of "straight out of compton." it was censored, also in rebellion.

6.07.08 Mezzanote Lounge- Whoa. This place is kind of a dive! Go All Out was there, so uh get excited about that. White Picket Fence, Brothers We Grow. This was the second and apparently final show of "4:37 & The One Nite Band" this time adding Jon Molina to create an incredible foursome. After the show, we all headed over to Taste Of Syracuse and ate some food. Bang Bang! Shrimp. That stuff was delicious. We got to see Whiskey Mae perform.

5.17.08 Papermill Island (AKA Carpfest 08)- I don't remember this being a good show. I played alot of songs, of that I'm certain. But it wasn't great. Broke a string, slipped on stage. Bad day.

5.14.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- Happy Birthday. The Animal Song, The Ringtone Song, Garrett's cover of Edwin McCain that I liked less once I read the real lyrics, playing galaga, listening to marilyn manson through the jukebox, taco night, deep fried mushrooms, "dude, you hit a wall," playing songs michael ryan wrote, making up junk on the spot, talking politics one time, drunks attacking us and ruining our notebooks, man. what a fun ride this truly was.

5.07.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- I'm going to miss hanging out with Garrett all the time an aweful lot.

4.30.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- I think I need to be done. It's alot of fun but I'm not sure this is me.

4.26.08 Davis College- For the past couple of years I have played a Block Party at this church in Elmyra called Southport Baptist. It's one of these real smalltown churches with quite a pulse. I made a friend in Joe Terry, who was a youth out there and when he went away to Davis College, he remembered me. When I arrived there I met two new friends, Josh Sorber and James Warren. Bass player and percussionist respectively. We practiced all day long and performed that night as a 3 piece group known affectionately as "4:37 And The One Nite Band!" It was an INCREDIBLE set. There were so many cool points. During Telephone Wire, the people just kept clapping so we started up the song again and Josh played a bass solo then we went back into the chorus again. This was the release of The Politics Of Passion and I think I only sold a hand full of copies. But, the message was really good and a friend of mine was really impacted by it. I was really impacted by it. Things really began to change for me this night.

4.23.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- HOLY CRAP MAN RED BULL.

4.16.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- We had alot of fun.

4.12.08 Connections (ZB WPF)- The greatest show I ever hosted at Connections Cafe`. This was the last show I did, as I was beginning to get frustrated with people. White Picket Fence performed again and I invited a kid from the highschool named Zach Brown out to perform. We also had Helen Wilson out to play some songs on her keyboard (against my suggestion to use the piano, for some reason). Amanda from 315 Live was there as were several other people and we all had a good time just playing songs and having coffee and soda. I recall everything ending with me and Zach doing a duet of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" him on piano and me on guitar. Incredible.

4.09.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- People are really eating up The Animal Song.

4.05.08 Connections Cafe WPF- Debut of White Picket Fence. I found them on myspace and thought they were incredible so I hit them up to come out to the cafe` and one of us opened for the other, I can't remember. I was an instant fan, knowing all the words to their 4 or 5 songs.

4.02.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- Atleast I'm paying my bills.

3.26.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- I don't feel alive.

3.19.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- Wow, this is the only gig I'm doing anymore.

3.12.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- Gooner makes good food.

3.05.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- This was apparently the only gig I did in March. Free food, 3 hours of music between GK and me. Sometimes DR stopped out and sang, Joe Altair came out one time.

2.27.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- Beer battered deep fried mushrooms and red bull.

2.23.08 Cole Treasure Benefit I- There were several bands that came together in support of a little boy with a world of burden on his shoulders. Helo, Closer Still, The Kerlin Syndrome, The Wannabees and a special presentation by my sister. She did Karate. It was pretty sweet, I can't lie. Sarah got the idea to put this on and really followed through with it. A friend of the families named Paul came in and helped us secure a venue, then many people donated items for auction. It was a wonderful time. 4:thirtyseven was a full band featuring Rob Isbelle on percussion and Randy Tennant on lead guitar. I also played barefoot.

2.20.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- The Animal Song is written, it's incredible

2.15.08 Toucans- I was terribly innapropriate. I don't know what's happening but the message is getting lost to vulgar jokes and nonsense. I'm singing covers of disgusting songs and telling jokes I wish weren't touching my mouth. There is money involved, I guess. People seem to like it. I'm a prostitute.

2.13.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- Same old.

2.09.08 TBF Coffeehouse- Bunch of pictures from this show.

2.06.08 Mac's Bad Art Bar- Debut of The As-If's, an acousticomedy duo. Me and GK started playing at Mac's once a week this night and had a blast eating mushrooms and writing parodies. Was a fun night, there was money involved.

2.02.08 Connections Cafe- Played a song called "Modesty" this night which included several sexual references. Despite the good morals in the song, people are offended by use of words like "rapist" and "whore" so they called the owner of the cafe and complained. I promised to try and create a more "G-Rated" atmosphere. I stand by the message of the song.
