What does 4:thirtyseven mean?
4:thirtyseven has several meanings. It all started about four years ago when my alarm went off at 4:37 am. It annoyed the crap out of me, but I pursued some meaning from it and landed in Luke 4:37. It read, "And His fame spread throughout every place in the surrounding region." My purpose has always been to share love with people. Not so much preaching or judging, just loving. This sounded like my purpose, to spread the love of Christ throughout every place in the surrounding regions.
What does the headless giraffe mean?
The giraffe on the cover represents my passion. The unveiled weapon that decapitated this poor animal is politics. In life, people are always going to have opinions on how things should go. With this group of songs, I let a popular vote control the direction of what is ultimately my journey. Interestingly enough, this collection is built around this same idea of society (songs like emily cries, flawed, and good morning, lauren discuss some of the struggles that drive us to conform), politics (with this one for the principalities, turncoat, church of the crooked cross and telephone wire that demonstrate the flawed system of separation that we are desperately clinging to), and passion (with forget to breathe, meet me in the theatre, and the red balloon and last goodbye that talk about Love and the conflicts that surround it) so I consider it a solid Concept album about the life and times of the WORLD.
When are you playing around our town next?
Check the myspace page or the "Upcoming Shows" section, yeah?
Why doesn't your myspace page say "Christian"?
Jesus used the secular to reach a broken world. He spent more time in the bars than the churches. He spent His time with the prostitutes and drunkards. I think today we are often afraid to be involved in the world, maybe because of the reasonable fear that we will lose ourselves, or maybe for the sake of appearance- but Jesus wasn't afraid. I want my music to not only reach people who know who Jesus is, but people who don't understand His character. Those who don't consider themselves Christians are no more interested in "Christian Music" and it's agenda than Christians are in "Atheist Music" and it's agenda.
Where do you go when you're lonely?
There's a big willow tree that I like to sit under. I call her The Giving Tree.
